Even though we didn't leave until 6:00 PM Wednesday night, by driving 800 miles and 11 hours on Thursday, we were able to take a little detour on our way to Nauvoo and see some Church sites . It was a great experience. We were the only people at each of these sites and felt the Spirit so strong. I feel it really prepared us for this mission at the Nauvoo Temple.
Liberty Jail where Joseph and others spent over 4 months in horrible conditions...and yet it is often called the "Temple Prison" because of the marvelous revelations Joseph received there!
Just see the thickness of the walls of the jail!
Next we drove to the Far West Temple Site...it is such a peaceful place...overlooking a beautiful valley. Hard to believe such awful things took place there!
The monument telling of the story of Far West. This was a sad time for the Saints.
Looking into the Temple site from the north side.
It was a sunny, warm day...but the wind was really blowing...can you tell?!!

I'm glad you got to see those sites before you got to Nauvoo! We miss you guys and can't wait to come visit!
We checked a few days ago to see if you had arrived. With all that we have posted lately everyone knows that the biggest danger is on our highways. Glad that you are there and safe.
Loved your hour after hour drive to see all and experience everything. When we visited that special site we were there late and we were the only ones. As you said it is an amazing experience.

We love looking at your pictures. We miss you both already. Alexa keeps asking, "Now how much longer until Grandma and Grandpa come home?"
Be safe! We love you!
